Riesling - serving or drinking?

When talking of an ideal wine temperature, the difference between serving and drinking temperature must be taken into account.

Thus, for example the warmth of a room has a clearly apparent influence on the serving temperature, and in a well-filled restaurant with an average room temperature, a cooled Riesling can be warmed by two to three degrees within only a few minutes.

Thicker glasses can additionally accelerate this process, especially if they are taken, still warm, directly out of the dishwasher, or if they are kept in a relatively warm place.

Transferring the wine to a decanting carafe also warms the wine by at least 1 to 2°C.
